Program Objective:

Provides a foundation for cross-cultural understanding based on the five values that shape cultural behaviors: Identity; Time; Problem-Solving; Decision Making; and Authority. Each value is explored across the major regions of the world. Understanding how these values influence communication across Global Teams provides the groundwork necessary for building cultural awareness and increasing effectiveness when dealing with cross-cultural teams.

Learning Objective:

  • Describe how cultural values affect the success of cross cultural meetings: the impact on establishing goals and objectives, strategy development, problem-solving, decision making and implementation plans.

  • Implement strategies to influence performance and results in cross-cultural teams: leadership roles; team member relations; motivation; communication.

  • Develop strategies for managing and/or defusing conflict in multicultural teams.

  • Develop skills for effectively providing feedback to team members of other cultures.

Global Negotiations builds upon the program, Communications Across Global Teams. Expanding upon the cultural values of Identity, Time, Problem-Solving, Decision Making, and Authority, participants will develop negotiation strategies based on real-life scenarios. Using case studies, negotiation strategies will be developed based on cultural values, evaluation of team dynamics, and overall business objectives.

Learning Objective:

  • Understand how cultural values and belief systems impact the negotiation process.

  • Identify what motivates individuals from other cultures and position your proposal to meet their needs.

  • Create a strategy to effectively negotiate across cultures that differ in problem-solving and decision-making styles.

  • Develop a negotiation action plan.
