Coaching Job Skills
A good coach will make his players
see what they can be rather than what they are.
- Ara Parasheghian
Session overview
An effective coach develops all team members through ongoing and useful
feedback. In order to achieve results, coaching must go beyond just
showing how to do something. Coaching involves observing, analyzing,
demonstrating, and giving feedback. Coaching is a process of developing
relationships with team members - relationships that ultimately can
build the trust and respect that are the foundation of successful
organizations. Coaching Job Skills provides the tools necessary to
successfully coach individuals to achieve high performance results.
Participants will learn how to distinguish between performance problems
that require coaching and those that can best be handled through better
instructions or some other means. Managers will learn how to involve
team members in the coaching process by asking effective questions and
encouraging two-way dialog. Upon completion of this module, participants
will have the tools necessary to conduct successful feedback sessions
with team members on how to improve performance.
Team leaders who care enough to coach their staff members elicit
cooperation, win team member confidence, and achieve victory.
