Essential Skills of Leadership
Leaders take you where you
wouldnt go yourself.
- Joel Barker
Session overview
This foundational module focuses on identifying the role and behavior of
an effective leader.
Essential Skills of Leadership is the first step to developing
successful managers. By focusing on three critical management skills,
the program establishes a methodology for productive interactions
between team members and team leaders. This course helps experienced
managers, new managers, and aspiring managers refocus on the basics
the skills required to manage the individual while also leading the
team.
Participants will learn how to demonstrate support for their team by
meeting the individual needs of each member and motivating them
accordingly. Leaders will learn how to manage others by focusing on
behavior, instead of employee attitudes. Leaders will also learn how to
encourage participation and involve team members in decision making,
problem solving, and achieving common goals.
In addition, participants will develop the critical skills necessary to
effectively delegate, evaluate performance, correct work habits, deal
with complaints, and resolve conflicts while supporting a team members
sense of self-respect and dignity.
