Essential Skills of Business Analyst


 
Quick Facts:
  Purpose: This seminar is intended to provide a skills overview and acquisition opportunity to systems analysts, business analysts, requirements analysts, business process owners, software engineers, project managers, project analysts, project leaders, and team leaders.
  Audience: Students enrolling in this course may be new to the business analyst role or may be required to contribute to the development of project requirements (primary audience) or serve on a project team (secondary audience).
  Group size: minimum 8 - maximum 20

Essential Skills of Business Anyalst
Effective business analysis is essential to defining and completing projects delivering the right solutions to stakeholders and the organization. One key focus of the business analyst is developing project requirements. Using the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® ) Version 2.0, a well-defined business analysis framework—this seminar provides an overview of the foundation skills and techniques required to develop the right project requirements the right way.
Delivery Method: The workshop is offered in facilitated classroom or on-line sessions. Each participant will receive a printed copy of the BABOK® v2 to augment their course materials and to provide a basic reference. This seminar is intended to provide a skills overview and acquisition opportunity to systems analysts, business analysts, requirements analysts, business process owners, software engineers, project managers, project analysts, project leaders, and team leaders. Course contents focus on acquiring and practicing the practical skills and techniques that successful requirements analysts bring to their projects in each BABOK® knowledge area.

Program Objectives: By the end of the seminar, participants will have reviewed how to:

  • Describe the role and key skills of the business analyst across the project lifecycle

  • Address the needs of the business as a whole during enterprise analysis where the business problem is defined and the solution is selected

  • Apply key skills for planning, developing, and managing solution requirements during a project

  • Develop and manage solution requirements across the project lifecycle - gather, analyze, document, communicate, and validate

  • Assess and validate proposed, in progress, and implemented solutions
