Team Samurai™: The Art of Teamwork

Team Samurai
team samurai, team building Team Samurai: The Art of Teamwork is a one-of-a-kind training program that people will be talking about for months to come. The lessons learned in this session will be valuable both personally and professionally.

Our instructors have more than twenty years of experience in teaching the martial arts, meditation, and of course, team building. Team Samurai can be conducted as a either a half or full-day event.

Team Samurai is grounded by that which is the very essence of the martial arts…energy. In China, this energy is known as “Chi.” While the English language lacks a word that adequately captures its essence, we experience the power of chi every day in everything we do. Chi can be described as yin or yang. It can further be characterized by the five elements: Fire, earth, metal, water, and wood.

In Team Samurai, participants will experience the martial arts through various forms of energy or chi. Throughout the session, we will related these concepts to the workplace. For example, some elements, and therefore some people, flow like water and others burn themselves out like fire. Some are patient like Earth, and others are opportunistic like wood. Some are exacting like metal and others are haphazard like fire.

Participants will also learn about the various mind states of the martial arts, Mind of Moon, Mind of Mirror and Mind of Water and how these mind states reflect themselves in our personal habits and in the workplace. For example, some teams and leaders are so tactical (Mind of Mirror) that they miss the big picture (Mind of Moon). Other teams operate at such as fast-pace, that they fail to flow like Water and optimize their success.

Team Samurai
addresses workplace issues by using the martial arts as a metaphor for learning about:

  • Flexibility and adaptability

  • Awareness of the needs of others

  • Focus and discipline

  • Trust and respect

  • Communication and feedback

  • Motivation and commitment

  • Power, authority, and leadership

Meditation has always been an important aspect of the martial arts.  In fact, it is said that where the mind goes, the energy flows.  Your team has the option of incorporating a Meditation 101component into Team Samurai.  With today’s fast-paced world, learning the basics of mediation provides useful relaxation techniques as a tool for stress management and increased focus.  Imagine your team collectively learning how to turn down the volume on workplace stress. How would that impact morale, job satisfaction, and performance?

During the meditation portion of the program, participants will learn how to:

  • Recharge in just two minutes

  • Handle distractions and interruptions during meditation and during the workday

  • Find inner balance by controlling unwanted negative thoughts

  • Transform workplace negativity into positive energy

  • Focus one’s energy for maximum results

  • Use relaxation techniques to prepare for and recover from difficult conversations, long meetings, and challenging responsibilities
