A person's rearing determines much about their acquired behaviors such as how much or how little one will participate in a discussion. A person may feel compelled to talk a lot or break into the discussion inappropriately because this was the accepted norm in his or her family. The person may not understand the impact this behavior is having on the team.
1) If this behavior happens often, the team should discuss it with the offending person(s) and explain how this impacts meeting performance.
2) If the problem persists, the team may need to develop a
Code of Conduct
that addresses the issue directly, and hold members accountable for complying. The
emphasis is on improving team and meeting
performance, and this should be made clear to all members.
